Star Wars Galaxies

I started playing this game about two weeks ago after a friend at work showed it to me. With my lack of time, it took this long to really get into it and compare it with other MMORPG’s that I’ve played like EverQuest & UltimaOnline. Here’s my quick 2 cents…

The good:

  • The game does an excellent job of putting you in the middle of the Star Wars universe. If you’re a SW fan and have at least a small interest in RPG’s, then I think you would find this game appealing.
  • The economy is almost completely player controlled. All weapons, armor, and healing devices are crafted by yourself or other players. The only items provided by the game are resources that you must harvest. This allows for more customized items than you would see in other games.
  • Player built cities. In addition to the numerous NPC cities, players have the ability to places houses and shops together to form their own cities that will even show on the world map after reaching a certain population.

The less good:

  • PvP is implemented through dueling. Pure opinion, but I much prefer full PvP games. I think they keep things a bit more exciting.

I’m defiantly hooked. I’ll be playing this one for awhile, or at least until WOW is released!
